5 Places to Take Your Dog in Jacksonville, FL
With nearly year-round warm weather, Jacksonville pet owners are always on the lookout for new spots to take their best friend, aka their dog. Try out one of these spots with your furry friend next time they need to get out some energy, socialize with other dogs, or you just want out of the house without having to leave the pup at home!
1. Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park
A state park that also made it onto our list of the Best Spots to Surf in Jacksonville, Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park allows dogs on its beautiful shores year round. You’ll need to keep your dog on a leash and have a maximum of two pups per visitor to make sure the park remains an enjoyable place for the whole family. Remember that there is a small fee to use the park with an option to purchase an annual pass. Grab the whole family, including the four-legged members, and make a day trip to take in all the park has to offer!
2. Brewhound
Brewhound is the first business on the list and a favorite among our team members! Sitting on an acre, this is a great spot to bring your pup when you also want to spend the afternoon relaxing. The unique experience offers coffee, wine, and beer for dog owners and separate small & large dog areas with “ruffarees” to keep play enjoyable for dogs & people! With incredible online reviews, it is clear they are a favorite of many locals.
3. Paws Dog Park
Part of the City of Jacksonville Beach park system, Paws Dog Park was specifically designed for our four-legged friends to have an enclosed area to release a day’s worth of energy. There is a membership fee for this park, so make sure to visit the city’s website for all the information before heading over with your furry friend. This park also offers separate large breed & small breed areas so your dog can play with other pups their own size!
4. Jacksonville Beach
A very popular beach for people and there’s no doubt that dogs are a fan as well! Jacksonville beach allows leashed dogs on the stretch of sand and sea outside of the 9am to 5pm hours during the summer months. However, from October 1st to March 31st you can take your leashed pup with you to the beach anytime of day. Jax beach offers a classic seaside experience that is a favorite of many!
5. Kanine Social
Have a dog that easily overheats in the sun? Kanine Social is a local business that offers an indoor/outdoor play experience for your pup. They also offer craft beer & a coffee selection for owners bringing their dogs to play. An awesome option for senior dogs or any dog that needs a break from the harsh summer sunshine.
So where will you and your dog be headed to this weekend? Playing in the water together at Jacksonville Beach, enjoying a cup of coffee on Saturday morning while your pup plays at Brewhound, or taking advantage of your membership at Paws Dog Park? With so many options there are hours of exciting adventure with your furry best friend ahead of you!
