Murray Hill tends to get less attention from the greater Jacksonville area than neighborhoods like Riverside and San Marco, but there are many reasons why this area shouldn’t be overlooked. With an abundance of quaint homes and vibrant dining, this historic area has a strong community-feel and a variety of places to try. Below are the highlights of the housing, shopping, dining, and things to do in Murray Hill so you can plan your next visit or get an idea of what life in this neighborhood is like!

Dining

The dining in Murray Hill is our personal favorite part of the neighborhood. With tons of great options to choose from, including locally owned favorites, the restaurants, bars, and coffee shops here tend to have character that you don’t find everywhere in the city. Some notable local places to dine are Community Loaves for breakfast and lunch, Moon River Pizza for a casual bite to eat, and El Jefe for a delicious Tex-Mex dinner. Also check out Fishweir Brewing Company for locally crafted beer and Vagabond Coffee for locally roasted coffee.

Shopping

While the dining is the highlight of the area, there are also a few unique places to shop. You’ll find multiple shopping options on Edgewood Avenue including Grater Goods, Momni Boutique, and Faith Jewelers. Grater Goods is a true cut and wrap cheese shop and specializes in American made cheeses. Momni Boutique offers clothing for sale but is also a local stop for alterations. Faith Jewelers is a family owned and operated jewelry store that values integrity and helps customers with a variety of budgets.

Things to Do

While you’re in town you may also be looking for some things to do outside of shopping and dining. Stop by Perfect Rack Billiards for a game of billiards or shuffleboard with friends anytime after 4pm, or try out Axe Champs to throw axes for a unique group activity. If you are looking for entertainment, visit the Murray Hill Theatre, a faith-based venue in the area, and if you enjoy a Saturday market make sure to check out the Murray Hill Pop-Up Market on the first and third Saturday of every month.
