One of our favorite neighborhoods here in Jacksonville is Riverside. We know we aren’t alone in this opinion as Riverside attracts many locals with its unique culture centered around history & the arts. It’s still within 30 minutes of the beach, and of course located right at the river. However, it gives off a completely different community feel than the beach neighborhoods here in Jax. Here is our guide to Riverside, featuring some of our favorite spots to check out whether you’re a Jacksonville native, or just stopping through the city for the day.

First on our guide is all the incredible culinary experiences and variety in Riverside. Some of the best coffee, fine dining, and casual eateries can be found in this waterfront community. Start off your day with a coffee from Bold Bean before taking a walk through Memorial Park. Ready for lunch? Try out one of two taco places, 904 Tacos & Corner Tacos, or head over to the Pizza Cave to indulge in a cheesy pie. If happy hour is your jam then try out the rooftop bar over at River & Post or check out a more casual environment at Hoptinger. Some of our favorite culinary experiences for an evening out include Black Sheep, River & Post, and Prospect Five Points. Last but not least, whether you are looking for lunch or dinner, Hawker’s is an asian street food restaurant that rarely disappoints. Expect to wait on the weekend and make sure to order the roti canai to start your meal.

Second we have to mention the incredible arts culture in Riverside. The key arts culture landmark in the area is the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens. This museum draws in many streetside visitors for its excellent exhibitions and beautiful gardens alongside the St. Johns River. Don’t forget they offer free admission on Tuesday & Friday evenings as well as during select hours the first Saturday of each month. Mere Blocks away from the Cummer Museum you will find the Riverside Arts Market being held every Saturday. This is one of the most popular attractions in the area and features food trucks, local artists & musicians, and fresh produce. The market also takes place right next to the river making it a great event to bring the whole family to, enjoy the local vendors, and take a walk along the St. Johns River while you’re there.

Lastly, there are many things to do in the Riverside area besides eating and art! Enjoy the Florida weather in one of the many parks in the area including Yacht Basin Park, Riverside Park, Memorial Park, and Willow Branch Park. The area is also home to several unique shops, many of which are in the Five Points area. This extremely walkable part of town provides hours of shopping and dining opportunities. If you visit on a rainy day, or are just a big movie fan, then Sunray Cinema might be the right choice of entertainment for you. This cinema offers a mix of classic, seasonal, and newly released movies.

One of the reasons why Riverside is so popular is because it is extremely walkable and bikeable in its layout. With that in mind, pick a few places on our guide next time you're in the area and grab your most comfortable shoes to spend the day exploring! We hope this list gives you at least one new place to visit in Riverside. If you’re considering moving to or investing in the area, we’d love to chat more with you about housing options. Home prices start in the low $300’s and go up from there and Riverside is favored among investors because it allows both short-term and long-term rentals. You can find our contact information below, and you might just bump into one of our team members next time you’re in the area. It’s one of our team’s favorite spots in Jax!
