What is a Real Estate Team? - The Benefits of a Team
Why would a solo agent join a real estate team? How does a team benefit their customers? How does a team function on a day-to-day basis? What even is a real estate team?
All of these questions are extremely valid and important to answer as we all watch real estate teams gain popularity around the United States and internationally. For so long solo agents were the standard in real estate and customers chose a singular person to work with versus a team of their choice. Additionally, becoming an agent meant taking on all parts of the real estate transaction, and getting a break into & gaining traction in real estate seemed like a daunting and, at times, a near impossible task. Teams have been forming all over the country to help solve the problems that come from being or working with a solo agent. There is certainly a place for solo agents and that is how our owner, Sarah Rocco, started her career in real estate, but as time passes teams are offering an increasing amount of benefits to all sides of transactions. A team offers a unique opportunity for individuals and an environment for a strong culture to develop amongst the group.
Perhaps the most notable part about teams is that they cater to the specialties of individuals, instead of having a singular person wear all of the hats that come along with transactions. On the agent side you may have certain agents who specialize in relocations, first time buyers, military buyers, etc. On the operations side you may have employees who focus on the transaction process, listing management, marketing, and more. Each of these key players can work full time on what they do best, and then leverage each other for support in the areas they don’t excel at. When this is executed well, processes are smoother, and a whole new level of customer experience can be reached. Additionally, from a personal perspective, each individual can focus on the things they enjoy most, and can eliminate the tasks from their plate that seem like a chore.
If you’re a new agent, you also get to benefit from the validity the team has already built. Their numbers, their experience, and their reputation will help you gain trust right away with the customers that otherwise may have been apprehensive to use an agent with little experience. In addition, the team you join will be able to share knowledge with you quickly that may take a long time to source on your own, and they can guide you to correctly prioritize your education. This way you learn the things that will help you the most and quickest when you are first starting, and you can use that first year as an agent as effectively as possible.
To summarize, a real estate team is a group of individuals that would rather do business together than apart. Members of a team desire to bring their specialties to the table and stand alongside each other to get each transaction to the closing table as smoothly as possible, with the most support possible.
