So often when we fail, we quickly become discouraged. We stop in our tracks and have a difficult time moving forward. But what if failure is the key for success? What if you let your failure propel you forward to the next level?

The Rocco Group has grown tremendously over the past few years, and we have failed plenty of times as we have consistently tried new ways to improve our customer and agent experiences. However, our leader Sarah Rocco has shown us how to take our failures and turn them into even bigger successes.

So how do we stop fearing failure? We must actively turn from what many of us were taught at a young age - to fear failure. Instead, we must turn our mindset to one that sees the value in failure. It is easier said than done, but it becomes more natural with practice. Failure can teach us so much and helps us narrow down the options when making our next decision. It can also create resilience and grit that will help you in so many aspects of your career and personal life. Failure is critical to reach your full potential. Without some risks and failure along the way, you won't clearly see what you are truly capable of achieving.

In a leadership role you are faced with the additional challenge of helping others overcome their own individual failures. A proactive leader will encourage those around them to be honest about their mistakes. Additionally, successful leaders will respond to those missteps in a constructive manner. Oftentimes, leaders can respond in a negative way, creating fear, which leads to discouragement. As a leader, it is crucial to go into solutions-mode when these situations arrive. Finding a solution for all parties involved will help ease the shock of any failure and allow everyone to learn and move forward. Failure ties together with experience, and many of the most experienced people have also encountered lots of failure along the way. When you can take these outcomes and turn them into a positive, the whole team can come out stronger on the other side.

Seeing failure as a necessary step helps to make it feel like it’s part of the process and not a wrong turn. We’ve been helping customers sell & buy homes in Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra, Amelia Island, and everywhere in between since 2016 and have helped over 800 families. Through these many experiences we have also encountered failure many times. Sometimes it seems like it is out of your control entirely, which can feel very upsetting and emotional. Our encouragement to you is to add any potential spots for failure into the steps of the process, so that you plan ahead for any potential snags, and are able to easily and quickly handle anything that comes your way! There are bound to be failures that are out of your control, but you can control your response to them.

At the end of the day, it’s not about the failure itself. It’s about what you learn from it and how quickly you can move on to the next task. So next time you hit a failure remember to fail forward, fast!
